The Demonstration Center Coordinator in each state works with
the President's Council to recognize schools committed to physical education.
This includes:
- Promoting the Demonstration Center program
- Informing schools how to become Demonstration Centers
- Reviewing applications from interested schools
- Visiting schools when needed to document a school's physical education program
- Recommending Demonstration Center schools for acceptance
- Distributing awards to accepted schools
- Maintaining a list of current Demonstration Center and Honor Roll schools
The State Coordinator's role
More than anything else, the coordinator serves as the liaison between schools
and the PCPFS.
The coordinator is expected to know state and local educational policies. Time
commitments depend upon how each coordinator promotes the program and the
number of schools that apply. If needed, coordinators may assign replacements
to visit sites and approve schools for recognition. The PCPFS has final
approval of all recommendations.
Recognition
The Demonstration Center Coordinator is a professional service position that
does not offer monetary compensation. The PCPFS appropriately recognizes the
coordinators in each state for their service to the field of physical
education.
